Timber in large sections such as CLT can often be used in unprotected situations where non-combustible materials such as steel would require special fire protection. CLT when completely exposed has excellent fire resistance, however installing fire resistant lining materials such as plasterboard to either flooring or walling CLT systems can provide further fire protection.
